Kanawha County Office of Emergency Management -- Coming soon
Get the call!
In an effort to
effectively communicate with citizens during time of emergency,
Metro 911 of Kanawha County has put in place KC-911, a public
emergency notification system to inform the public in the event of
certain types of widespread emergencies.
What is KC-911?
KC-911 is a mass
notification system, designed to make phone calls and send
information by text message and email to the public during emergency
situations. Public safety officials will use this system to give you
vital information quickly in times of emergency.
Right now, Metro 911
has access to your publicly listed residential phone number and can
call those numbers to provide information and instructions.
Right now, we do
not have access to your cell phone numbers, unlisted telephone
numbers, and email addresses, and we encourage all residents to opt
in to this program. On the Opt-in form below, you may provide
additional contact information.
Information you choose to provide for
this service
will not be given to any outside
agencies or companies.
When will I get calls or text messages?
Emergency officials
may use the system to make calls to wireless phones and landline
phones during localized emergencies, as well as text messages and
emails during widespread emergencies. These messages may include
information on floods, fires, major traffic emergencies, missing
persons, evacuation orders, shelter-in-place instructions, weather
emergencies and Amber Alerts, as well as a monthly test of the email
and text message system.
Customers will incur their standard charges for calls and data
transmissions from this system.
The system has been
programmed to show “Kanawha County” as the Caller ID when notifying
the public by telephone.
To provide, change
or remove your information from the system, please complete the form
below, or call Metro’s Community Support
number
304.744.6843 any time day or night to provide your contact
information.
